The opening ceremony of the test facility at the Hradec Králové airport was attended by Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Vladimír Bärtl, US Ambassador to the Czech Republic Stephen B. King, Rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague Vojtěch Petráček, CEO of GE Aviation Czech Milan Šlapák, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague Michael Valášek, Mayor of Hradec Králové Alexandr Hrabálek and other important personalities.
"Today is an important milestone in linking teaching and research with development and production as an example of the Czech Republic's path to becoming an innovation leader in Europe. I am convinced that only such a system will actively contribute to the transformation of the Czech economy into a high value-added economy.
I am proud of my team, our suppliers and partners from GE Aviation Czech, CEL, Praga Avia, who managed to put into operation such a complex test facility in record time", said the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, Professor Michael Valášek.
The new test facility for aircraft engines in Hradec Králové is one of the most modern in the world. This is mainly due to the fact that it can simulate real airflow on the wing of an aircraft by horizontal airflow. Its state-of-the-art measurement and control system also has the ability to read in real time a huge amount of data from thousands of sensors located on the engines under test.
